I obtained a BSc degree in Biology with a specialization in Biomolecular Science and Biotechnology and an MSc degree in Protein Biotechnology from the University of Crete, Greece. During that time I joined the Molecular Entomology group where my study was focused on the functional characterization of enzymes associated with insecticide resistance in mosquito-vectors of human diseases.
After my studies, I worked at the Evolutionary Biology group at the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystems Dynamics at the University of Amsterdam, functionally expressing and characterizing mite enzymes associated with acaricide detoxification.
I then moved to the Vector Biology Department at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, where I worked on the molecular mechanisms responsible for insecticide resistance in malaria disease vectors.
In 2020, I joined Professor Simon Draper's, Blood-Stage Malaria group as a Research Assistant on protein and antibody production for the preclinical development of malaria vaccines.
