HIC-Vac Annual meeting 2021

In November 2021 many of the clinical group members affiliated with the HIC-Vac network – Ange, Mimi, Susanne, Carolyn, Sarah, Amelia, and Jo – attended the annual meeting at the De Vere Latimer Estate. HIC-Vac is an international network of researchers working on volunteer infection studies to help tackle global diseases through new and better vaccines, directed by Prof Peter Openshaw and Prof Andy Pollard (https://www.hic-vac.org/). Talks covered a wide range of challenge pathogens – including the very topical Sars-CoV-2 – building up to the final Parasite Challenge Models session, chaired by Ange and including a talk by Mimi entitled ‘Efficacy of a Plasmodium vivax malaria blood-stage vaccine candidate’. This was a great opportunity to meet with others in the field and was our first ‘post’ COVID conference! Carolyn and Sarah even snuck in a quick hike  (in the gorgeous countryside pictured below!) before the start of Day 1 to enjoy the Chilterns autumnal air.
