In early November 2022 Simon attended the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) held in Seattle, USA. This meeting is the premier international forum for the exchange of scientific advances in tropical medicine, hygiene and global health, and draws tropical medicine and global health professionals representing academia, foundations, government, not for profit organisations, non-governmental organisations, the private sector, military and private practice. The five-day educational conference also includes four pre-meeting courses and draws more than 4,000 attendees.

Simon presented a poster on behalf of Sarah on the group’s recent VAC080 clinical trial, entitled “Characterising the effects of monthly versus delayed-boost vaccination regimens on humoral responses induced by the Plasmodium falciparum blood-stage vaccine RH5.1/Matrix-M™ in Tanzanian infants 5-17 months of age”. Aside from this, it was fantastic to catch-up with collaborators and colleagues from around the world in-person for the first time since the pandemic.
