In March 2023, Simon, Carolyn, Martino, Kirsty and Veronica attended the Oxford Immunology Symposium, the annual flagship meeting of the British Society for Immunology Oxford Immunology Group and Oxford Immunology Network: https://www.immunology.org/events/oxford-immunology-symposium-2023
This year’s symposium featured invited talks from Simon (“Advances in next-generation vaccines for blood-stage malaria”), as well as Profs Philip Goulder, Hashem Koohy, Helen McShane and Dr Kat Pollock, all from the University of Oxford. Carolyn presented a poster and linked lightning talk based on a pending medRxiv paper (“Analyses of vaccine-specific circulating and bone marrow-resident B cell populations reveal benefit of delayed vaccine booster dosing with blood-stage malaria antigens”), and chaired one of the afternoon sessions to introduce Dr Pollock and her talk on the use of fine needle aspirates to study human secondary lymphoid tissue
