ASTMH 2023 Chicago

In October 2023 Simon, Angela and Jo attended the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) held in Chicago, USA. This meeting is the premier international forum for the exchange of scientific advances in tropical medicine, hygiene and global health, and draws tropical medicine and global health professionals representing academia, foundations, government, not for profit organisations, non-governmental organisations, the private sector, military and private practice. The five-day educational conference also includes four pre-meeting courses and draws more than 4,000 attendees.

Jo presented a poster on the group’s recent VAC080 clinical trial, entitled “Superior functional antibody activity of a delayed-boost vaccination regimen with the P. falciparum blood-stage vaccine RH5.1/Matrix-M™ in 5-17 month old Tanzanian infants”. Aside from this, it was fantastic to catch-up with collaborators and colleagues from around the world, and also experience down-town Chicago, including its legendary deep-dish pizza!
