In February 2026 Simon was invited to attend the Singapore Malaria Network (SingMalNet) Meeting 2026.
This meeting fostered new ideas and concepts by bringing together scientists working in multiple aspects of malaria. These areas included clinical and epidemiological research, as well as in vitro laboratory studies of the human pathogens Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax. Other model organisms including the rodent and non-human primate Plasmodium species also featured. The SingMalNet meeting also provided a great opportunity for young up-and-coming scientists to meet established global experts in multiple disciplines of malaria research.
SingMalNet2026 spotlighted current topics in malaria research combining urgent issues pertaining to malaria control, such as drug and vaccine discovery, pathogenesis and epidemiology, with basic research areas of genomics, and molecular and cellular biology of the malaria pathogen Plasmodium.
Simon was an invited speaker and gave a presentation entitled “Advances in vaccines and antibodies for blood-stage malaria”.
Simon thanks the organisers for their kind and very generous hospitality. It was fantastic to catch-up with so many friends, collaborators and colleagues from around the world, and to also visit the beautiful city of Singapore!
