In mid-March 2025, Simon visited the University of Osaka in Japan. Here he was invited to give a plenary talk on “Advances in Vaccines and Antibodies for Blood-Stage Malaria” at the annual Japanese Society of Parasitology conference, and he also gave a seminar on “Second-Generation Multi-Stage Vaccines for P. falciparum Malaria” to the University of Osaka’s Vaccine Development Group at the Taniguchi Memorial Hall in the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases.
Simon thoroughly enjoyed his first visit to Osaka and is especially grateful to Prof Shiroh Iwanaga for his kind invitation and generous hospitality. It was also a great opportunity to catch-up with other colleagues from the Japanese malaria vaccine community, including Prof Taka Tsuboi and Prof Eizo Takashima from the University of Ehime and Prof Toshihiro Horii and Dr Nirianne Palacpac from the University of Osaka.
