Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Annual Meeting 2026

Simon, Angela, Kirsty and Barney spent an amazing four days at the Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Annual Meeting at Imperial College in London this week.

The GCAM brings together major influencers in global health innovation. Researchers, practitioners, policymakers, funders, and advocates meet in a different city every year, where they set agendas, forge collaborations, and advance science.

In London, Angela gave an opening talk entitled “A Shot at Every Stage: The New Frontiers in Malaria Vaccines” to set the scene for a session on Driving Clinical Impact through Vaccines and Biologics for Malaria. On the final day, Simon joined a panel discussion in the closing plenary session entitled “The Malaria R&D Endgame: What do we have? What are we missing?”

The team thoroughly enjoyed catching up with many of our incredible collaborators and seeing all the wonderful work happening across the globe. It was inspiring to connect with so many people working to address some of the world's most pressing challenges!
