Inaugural Richard J. Meyer Endowed Lecture at UTA

On 17th October 2023, Simon and Angela visited collaborators at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) in the USA.

As part of this visit, Simon was honoured to give The Inaugural Richard J. Meyer Endowed Lecture where he spoke on “Advances in Vaccines and Antibodies for Blood-Stage Human Malaria”.

The endowment for the Richard J. Meyer Endowed Lecture was established by the LaMontagne Center for Infectious Disease (LCID) Director Shelley Payne and LCID Associate Director Jaquelin Dudley in memory of their friend and colleague.  This endowment recognises Dr Meyer’s contributions to science and his training of Microbiology graduate students. The lectureship supports an annual lecture through the LCID to allow faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows to learn cutting edge information that will inspire their research.

Alongside this special event, Simon and Angela spent time meeting with faculty, and discussing current progress on collaborative projects with Drs Greg Ippolito, Jason Lavinder and George Georgiou. We’d like to thank them for their friendship, hospitality and extremely warm welcome to a very sunny UTA, and hope we can return the favour in due course (although no guarantees with the British weather!).
